Power is a great aphrodisiac. Henry Kissinger said that, and so did Madonna, so it must be true. But how do you get power in our powermad, power-phobic world? How do you play with power without losing it? How do you use sex to get power? Of course, you already know how to use power to get sex; at least you think you do. But how do you deal with the sexual power of others? How do you get power from giving pleasure? Learn all about it in The 48 Laws Of Power by Robert Greene, one of the best books on power I’ve ever read. It out-Machiavellis Machiavelli and out-Sun Tzus Sun Tzu, mainly because it uses the philosophies of both of these great power thinkers, illustrating them with exciting tales of great power mongers throughout 3000 years of world history. Read all about them: Julius Caesar, Casanova, Cleopatra, Queen Elizabeth I, Empress Wu Hu of China, the Medicis, the Rothschilds, Napoleon, Haile Sellasie, Harry Houdini, Mata Hari, Otto von Bismarck, Mao Tse-Tung, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and P.T. Barnum (whom I was recently compared to in Salon Magazine; just call me the PT Barnum of Sex). Greene deftly explores the exploits of kings, queens, generals, courtiers, courtesans and con artists, with a special fondness for the power plays of the latter. A big part of gaining and maintaining power is looking to history to learn from those who come before you. The 48 Laws Of Power gives you all the essential lessons; it’s up to you to learn from them. --DrSuzyB
